 What is Arianna?
 | | Arianna is the first multimedia video-guide for handhelds with GPS, WiFi and Bluetooth commercialized in Italian cities. It has been developed by Econoetica SRL (www.econoetica.com) in 2006. Arianna is a descriptive tool suitable for obtaining information within multimedia components through a dynamic map viewer. Tourists who need particular information about places or monuments are provided with specific contents containing hypertext, images and audio. Moreover they can interact with the map by performing searches to find the position of a given address, highlighting interest points and being updated of their actual position through GPS. Maps are based on high detailed raster cartography and are generated on the basis of a considerable amount of layers (which includes buildings details, road and street borders, green areas, road furnishings). Arianna can show the user particular itineraries and can locate him by tracking his movements and by keeping the map centered on his position. Furthermore Arianna’s calendar will keep users informed about the events of the week and interest points information, such as museum’s hours and transport schedule.
